I had been visiting my sister, had been feeling a little tired and stressed out, and I decided to get my hair styled as a treat to myself. I was sitting in my sister"s hairdresser"s shop in a mall in Attleboro, Massachusetts and I noticed that the shop was playing the most lovely music with a slight Celtic or Gaelic flavor. I asked the hairdresser if she could tell me what tape it was, since I was hoping to buy a copy. She smiled and said, "Oh, it"s a live group, and they"re outside!"
When I was through, I stepped outside and saw the Tim Janis Ensemble playing. Several of their CDS were available. I bought this, and my sister bought December Morning. The music is just as lovely in the recording as it was live, and just as haunting. The tonal qualities are splendid, the emotion well expressed and compelling. As one who lives within sight of the Isles of Shoals, I find the music wonderful. I cannot recommend this CD highly enough - it has about it all that is good in classical music and all that is good in contemporary music. No cliches, nothing cutesy - just splendid, lovely music. --Amazon Reviewer
