Slayer is een Amerikaanse trashmetalband die in 1981 opgericht is door gitaristen Jeff Hanneman en Kerry King. Slayer werd één van de bekendste bands in het trashmetalgenre door hun album Reign in Blood uit 1986. Samen met Megadeth, Anthrax en Metallica vormen zij The Big Four.
