Kenny Dorham - 'Round About Midnight at the Cafe Bohemia
Op 5 december 1972 overleed in New York op 48-jarige leeftijd de trompettist Kenny Dorham. Tot op het laatst van zijn 25-jarige loopbaan in de jazz is hij actief gebleven, al waren er periodes dat hij zich voor kortere of langere tijd uit de muziek terugtrok. De laatste jaren vooral door een zeer slechte gezondheid ten gevolge van een ernstige nieraandoening, waardoor hij nog maar sporadisch kon optreden. Kenny Dorham is altijd een zeer onderschatte figuur geweest, ondanks het feit dat hij zo langzamerhand het symbool van musicianship was geworden. In deze spot het fameuze Blue Note-album 'Round About Midnight At The Cafe Bohemia' ("Rudy Van Gelder" Edition  label).
